The German Archaeological Institute, in cooperation with the Charité Universitätsmedizin and the German Society for Anthropology (GfA), is excited to invite you to the 25th European Paleopathology meeting, taking place, in person only, in Berlin from August 3rd to 7th, 2026. The event will feature a dynamic program with multidisciplinary sessions and ample networking opportunities.

Held every two years, the European Paleopathology meetings have seen a growing number of speakers and attendees from outside Europe, particularly from North America and Asia. The event draws a diverse audience, including bioanthropologists, medical doctors, historians, conservators and public engagement professionals. This international turnout underscores the ever-expanding global interest in the field, making the meeting an essential platform for exploring cutting-edge research on the health and disease of past populations, as well as their broader social and economic contexts. Together we will celebrate its 25th anniversary.

Join us in Berlin, a city that is the focal point where a long tradition of studies and collections intersects with the latest technological advancements and the most pressing methodological and ethical challenges. Together, let us inspire creativity and innovation.

We look forward to welcoming you!

On behalf of the organizing committee,
Dr Julia Gresky and Dr Emmanuele Petiti
