Lecturer in Forensic Science
Full time, permanent at Keele University (England) - Education & Scholarship or Education & Research. Application Deadline: 30. July 2023.
Faculty of Natural Sciences
3 posts - Lecturer in Forensic Science (Education and Scholarship and/or Education and Research)
Grade 7a Starting salary £39,347 - £45,585
We are looking for three ambitious people to join a team of staff in Keele University’s Faculty of Natural Sciences. The Faculty is responsible for the School of Chemical and Physical Sciences.
The three permanent lectureship posts are immediately available and represent an exciting opportunity to join the dynamic and growing Forensics Science team. This builds on the recent recruitment of two forensic anthropology/taphonomy academic posts. Within the School there is an excellent teaching and research infrastructure, and a strong commitment and track record in providing high quality educational programmes within a research-led context; the posts also offer the opportunity to further develop the School’s practitioner and research profile.
The appointments arise from the substantial growth and success of the Forensic Science programmes at Keele University, which was ranked No 1 in England for Forensic Science (Complete University Guide 2022). To strengthen the Forensic Science programmes further, we now wish to attract outstanding candidates to complement existing teaching and research strengths in the School and wider Faculty of Natural Sciences. We would particularly welcome candidates in the areas of digital forensics, forensic biology (genetics/DNA analysis), ballistics, environmental/wildlife forensics, and crime scene investigation. The successful candidates will have a relevant degree, and either a relevant PhD for Education and Research (E&R) posts, or relevant professional practice for Education and Scholarship posts. You will be expected to play a key role in the Forensic Science teaching team and will support and expand both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including delivering taught sessions, managing project/laboratory work and supervising undergraduate and postgraduate research projects. If applying for an E&R post, you will also be expected to have shown significant achievement in research and will have the potential to develop and/or maintain an internationally competitive programme of independent research.
